Privacy policy

The short version: the Curb Check extension collects nothing, transmits nothing, and has no servers. This website stores your email address only if you type it into a form. There is no tracking and no advertising anywhere.
Two separate things
People confuse these, so they're kept apart throughout this policy.
The extension
The Chrome extension you install. It runs entirely on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere.
This website
curbchecker.com. It's an ordinary website, so it has a host, and it has one form you can choose to fill in.
The extension
What it collects
Nothing. Curb Check has no backend server of its own. It does not transmit your browsing activity anywhere. We cannot see what you browse, what you search for, or what you buy, because none of that is ever sent to us.
What is stored on your computer
Your preferences — budget range, mileage tolerance, transmission preference, listing-age threshold — along with the listings you've viewed and any marks or notes you add, are saved using your browser's own storage (chrome.storage.local and IndexedDB). This stays on your machine, is readable only by Curb Check, and is deleted when you uninstall the extension. It is never transmitted to us.
Page content
Curb Check reads the marketplace pages you visit in order to identify vehicle listings and score them. That reading happens entirely in your browser's memory. No page content is logged, stored on a server, or transmitted.
Permissions, and why
- Storage — to save your preferences and your captured listings on your own device.
- Access to facebook.com, web.facebook.com and messenger.com — to read the vehicle listings you are looking at and display information alongside them. Curb Check does not read or transmit your messages, your contacts, or your account information.
- Access to extensionpay.com — used only to check whether your trial or purchase is active.
This website
Email addresses
If you enter your email address into a form on this site, it is stored by Netlify, our host, so we can send you what you asked for. We use it for that and nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or add it to anything you didn't ask for. Ask us and we'll delete it.
Server logs
Like every website, this one sits on a host, and that host keeps standard access logs — IP address, browser type, which page was requested, and when. That's a normal part of serving a website and we don't use those logs to build any profile of you.
What this site does not do
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no tracking scripts of any kind.
- No cookies. This site sets none.
- No advertising, and no advertising networks.
- No third-party fonts or scripts. Every page loads only from this domain, so nothing you do here is visible to anyone else.
Links to other sites
We link to other websites — government databases, vehicle history services, parts catalogues. Once you follow a link, you're on someone else's site under their privacy policy, not ours.
Payments
Payment and subscription status are handled by ExtensionPay, which processes payments through Stripe. When you start a trial or buy, ExtensionPay receives what it needs to manage your licence and Stripe receives your payment details. We never see or store your card information. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.
Children
This site and the extension are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
